FAQ

How can I order a vegetable box?

You can order online via our order form. We will then send you an e-mail with confirmation and all the important information. When ordering, you can choose between the 12-month subscription (equivalent to 46 boxes), the 4-month subscription (equivalent to 17 boxes) and the 1-month trial subscription (equivalent to 4 boxes). By ordering a 12-month subscription, you are giving us a great deal of stability and planning security in our work. In return, we thank you with 4 FREE boxes, which you receive as a gift after your subscription.

From the next possible delivery date, you will then receive a box every week at a pick-up station of your choice until the number of ordered boxes (= delivery weeks) is reached.

How exactly does the vegetable box work?

Our vegetable boxes are newly compiled every week and offer a varied selection of the best vegetable specialities that are currently in season. We deliver the boxes on Thursdays to various pick-up stations:

  • Absdorf (Thursdays from 3:30 pm, 24h accessible)
  • Königsbrunn (Thursdays from 4:00 pm, 24h accessible)
  • Kirchberg am Wagram (Thursdays from 4:00 pm, 24h accessible)
  • Feuersbrunn (Thursdays 4:00-7:00 pm and Fridays 9:00-7:00 pm)
  • Krems, EVI Naturkost (Thursdays from 3:00 pm during the opening hours of EVI)
  • Pixendorf (Thursdays from 1 pm, 24h accessible)
  • Tulln, Bio am Platz (Thursdays from 1:00 pm, during the opening hours of Bio am Platz)
  • Tulln, UFT/BOKU (Thursdays 1:30-3:30 pm and Fridays 8:00-11:00 am)

The price for our boxes is € 24 per week for a large box, € 19  for a small box and € 14 for a mini box. Payment for the vegetable boxes is made monthly by direct debit or bank transfer. If you choose automatic debiting (SEPA mandate), our administrative workload is reduced and as a thank you we charge € 1,- less per cistern.

Your subscription ends automatically as soon as we have delivered the full number of boxes (corresponding to your chosen subscription). Within the subscription period, you can pause the delivery of the boxes at any time. This will extend your subscription by the number of paused boxes (= delivery weeks). You will always receive the full number of ordered boxes, regardless of how often you pause.

Which box size is right for me?

Whether a small or large box suits you better depends entirely on your cooking habits and the number of people you are cooking for. Basically, we recommend a small box for 1-2 people and a large box for 3-4 people who cook fresh several times a week. However, enthusiastic vegetable connoisseurs, smoothie fans and vegetarians or vegans will probably be happy with larger quantities of vegetables.

What if I can’t pick up my vegetable box?

If you are on holiday or otherwise prevented, someone you trust (family members, friends, neighbours…) can pick up your vegetable box. This way, our vegetables are also a source of joy for other people and at the same time you help us to prevent food waste.

If this is not possible, you can also pause your vegetable box. Please inform us by e-mail at least by Monday 8:00 am of the relevant delivery week or enter the break yourself in the customer area of our website.

Is the vegetable box available all year round?

Almost. We deliver our boxes from the beginning of April to the end of February. We also take a two-week break over Christmas.

Can I choose which vegetables will be in my box?

Of course we would like to take all preferences, dislikes or intolerances into account, but this is a big logistical effort that we unfortunately cannot manage at the moment. However, every week we try to provide a varied selection of our harvest and, in the cold season, we supplement it on a case-by-case basis with organic vegetables and organic fruit from partner farms in the region. In the course of the vegetable year, you will of course get to know the classics of vegetable diversity, but also lots of rarities that you probably won’t find in any supermarket – and in a quality that you would otherwise only know from your own garden. With delicious recipe ideas and suggestions, our aim is to conjure up real variety in your kitchen.

We invite you to give vegetables that you may have already written off a chance – with one or two preparation tips you may suddenly like them after all! And if you don’t like something at all, maybe you can make friends, relatives or other subscribers happy.

Are your vegetables certified organic?

Our vegetables are of course certified organic according to EU guidelines: AT-BIO-902. In addition, we are controlled according to the even stricter quality standards of Bio Austria. We have also decided not to use any of the pesticides permitted in organic farming. We work according to a so-called “zero-pesticide strategy” and rely on the power of beneficial insects, on crop protection nets and plant strengthening through compost tea.

Is it possible to buy vegetables at your farm gate?

We do not currently offer farm-gate sales. But we have selected partners who sell our vegetables:

  • Bio am Platz in Tulln
  • Family Wechselauer: Saturdays from 7:00 am until 11:30 am at the farmers’ market at Holzschuhpassage in Tulln
  • Gastwirtschaft Floh in Langenlebarn (where our vegetables are turned into culinary works of art)

I own a restaurant, a farm shop, organise a market, an event etc. Can I buy your products?

Yes, we will be happy to find an individual solution for you. Please contact us at grandgarten@grandfarm.at or +43 664 100 25 76.
